6 Healer Anub, Saints goto the Super Bowl

Not even 49 attempts tonight. Tonight's pure fail isn't really excusable, but come on, did you see the NFC Championship? Calrich had to yell at everyone to turn off the TVs or we'll wait til the end of the game. Of course we didn't do either and still managed to down Anub'arak with 6 healers. Insanity would have been nice, but even without the distraction, I don't think we would have gotten it tonight. Raiding's always more fun when Calrich is yelling, though.

The definition of fail.

We all know there's plenty of examples to support failure in WoW...

I was in a cross server pug the other day, and I use rankwatch which reports to chat if someone in your party is using lower rank abilities.

I nicely tell this hunter after the run to buy the rest of his abilities for next time, and this is his response:

<01:08:57 PM>[PL] [80:Niobe-Terenas]: there's nothing at my trainer to train in dipshit sorry i cant be a pro on wow

You know what really grinds my gears?

Today I joined a random dungeon with this guy and his tank friend Lichborn. Geared in easily farmable ICC gear, and both sporting their SO HARD TO OBTAIN Ashen Verdict titles, these guys thought they were the best players in WoW. I believe both were from Smolderthorn. The rest of the group was filled out by a mediocre ret paly, a terrible arcane mage, and my resto druid Catform.

So we go through Nexus and these two wannabe elite players talk to each other in party chat as if they can't use guild chat or vent. No Putricide ten man kill and no achievements other than Boned and the Saurfang achievement. We make it to Keristrasza and I get a tell from the DK. "Just click yes." Knowing what he's about to do I respond with "Sure, if you tell your friend to gem correctly." (not a single ArP gem) I think to myself, goodbye mage, and then I see this:

That was the paladin. He barely said a word the entire instance and he wasn't, by far, the lowest dps in the group. I guess cause he was the group leader? I don't know. It was a pretty douchebag move. I didn't even kick yes. The vote passed before I was able to click anything. Oh and the DK did respond to what I said about the warrior's gems. "He's arms." Yeah. Bad players are bad, but this just takes the cake. Gear is giving so many shit guilds and shit players confidence that they're actually good. It annoys the hell out of me. I remember Katrin telling us about an alliance paladin that said "You guys will never see a gear score like mine" after the group complained about how terrible he was. He had a 5500 gearscore (pretty much every person in our guild is over 5500). Gotta love the players in these randoms and guilds that use gear to measure skill!

The Pioneers of Penis, Part Two

It's part two because part one is on my desktop computer, this is my laptop. Part one gets posted later. You will also find out why it's called "The Pioneers of Penis" in that post.

All the areas you wish you could see; except for a few. This post is pretty much just going to be a bunch of image links to pictures of some really cool and normally inaccessible areas in World of Warcraft. All of these pictures feature Enphoius, Turgor, Reizoko, and Myself; Temptate (now Saga) was present for some of them.

YOU CAN VIEW THE PICTURES BY COPYING THE LINKS INTO YOUR BROWSER, DAMNIT. IF YOU'RE SMART YOU CAN SEE THAT THE URL ONLY CHANGES BY THE NUMBER THE END OF IT; SO CHANGE THE URL BY ADDING 1 TO THE NUMBER AT THE END OF THE URL TO VIEW THEM QUICKLY.

Us getting to the top of Karazhan; without zoning into the instance. Unfortunately I disconnected about half way up

Here's a picture of us behind Zul'Aman's walls; once again without zoning into the instance. Pretty much just some one-way texturing viewed from behind.

Some pictures of us behind Ghostlands, the odd looking force-field thing at the edge of the world definately does NOT keep you from falling off, by the way.

The following are a bunch of pictures taken on top of Blackrock Mountain; we wanted to see if Nefarian's Lair was up there, as it turns out, it was! The only issue is that the lair is surrounded by a one-way texture box which prevents you from seeing the inside while viewing from out of the box. A couple of these pictures showcase this texture box; which players have collision with, mind you.

After hopping around in Nefarian's Lair, we found out that there was seemingly no way to get out... Thankfully, feared targets can run through the texture box, so we used that mechanic to get out. This picture was taken as we made our way to the nameless zone between Stormwind and Ironforge; where geographically speaking, the tram should run underneath.

That zone actually had absolutely nothing in it and was utterly uninteresting, so here's a view of Stormwind's Keep from the edge of that nothingness.

haha, xserver pugs..lawl....

We gotta love running with xserver pugs. Because 90% of them are basically pretty fail!! There are a couple cool mods to use when running dungeons and raiding. The two mods are as follows: Elitist Group and Rankwatch.

Elitist Group is a mod that summarizes the people in your group when you are running an instance. Inspects their gear, checks their achievements, and what not. Very sweet mod. It gets updated quite often.

Rankwatch is even a sweeter mod that will detect people in your group that are using lower rank abilities that are basically NOT SUPPOSED TO BE USING :P. You can use it to bitch out people if your a complete asshole! Or you can use it as a teaching aid (I know sounds dumb !) But yeah, a neat mod it is. The author is lazy and hasn't made a gui config for it. So you have to config the mod using command line. But make sure you do when you first install it.

Links to both mods are provided below

Questing for Achievements!

First of all, I encourage any of you that use Carbonite to fucking GET RID OF THAT SHIT!!! It really serves no purpose to someone thats level 80. And it's a piece of shit to use when you are leveling too :P. Don't make me get into specifics hereee.

Blizzard was nice to us, addon authors, to give us an API to find out what quests we completed and still need to do on any character! We can query the server for that! Therefore, an addon was enhanced to take advantage of that! It's name is Everyquest. You can see a list of quests given the filters you set, per zone/dungeon/bg, anything!! Pretty pro if you ask me.

Now to use in conjuction with Everyquest, there are two pretty pro mods to use to. They are Lightheaded and TomTom. Lightheaded is a mod that attaches to the quest log and gives you parsed information from wowhead about a selected quest in your quest log. Tells you the start/end npcs, the coordinates to each one. And it even shows you in game, the comments that people left on wowhead on the quest pages. Very nice for quick information on a quest you may be on.

TomTom is a waypoint mod. Simple as that. Nice navigational mod when you are throughout zones!!

Below you will find links provided to all 3 mods:

Everyquest:

Release Site: http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/everyquest.aspx

Lightheaded:

TomTom:

They are pretty well described in those links there on those sites. Check em out.

PALLYPOWER REPLACEMENT IN THE WORKS FOR YOU PALLIES

Pally Power is a great addon for you Paladins to manage your buffs, but it's not the best addon on the technical side of things. The author of the mod is a bit messsy with his code. Teh addon comms this mod does is rather heavy. If you guys know of the following addons: SexyMap, Chatter, SexyCooldown, InternalCooldowns, etc, the author of those addons is now working on a Pally Power replacement. Antiarc is a cool guy and he knows his shit. He is calling the Pally Power replacement: Blessed. It may stay or act as a tentative name for the project. It is in early alpha stages at the moment, so if you have a Paladin, give it a test drive if you'd like. You can grab the current alpha and read about it here, Blessed

World of Logs - 1/13/10

http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/0g0eaxjckm1cp9wx/

Left Putricide because of lag. I didn't start my combat log until the very end of Northrend Beasts because I'm bad. Anyway. 49 attempt champions here again. Haiatu runs a longer path when chased during phase 2, I guess cause of MD, and Jeth wasn't quick enough to BoP him. Happened during second Phase 2.

To all the followers

Lets strafe away from our progression/homosexuality/and sweet guides to Thunderfuries and throw a look towards what's happening in Haiti at the moment.

Terrible situation, and many people need your thoughts and prayers. Also I included a link to donate money towards the relief groups that are currently aiding with the situation.

Thanks for reading.

How to Obtain Thunderfury

Dueling outside of Org always gets interesting when someone like this passes by; he was completely in awe of the fact that my weapon, Thunderfury, was orange. He was so interested that he immediately wanted to know how to get it; Reizoko and Turgor, being the kind people that they are, decided to enlighten him. Thankfully I managed to capture most of the instructions.

At first he was mainly interested in if I had found Thunderfury originally enchanted with crusader, after I explained I did not, he took interest in that Reizoko was explaining to him that I in fact found Thunderfury off of a boar outside of Orgrimmar. With this new-found information, he took to slaughtering boars.

After killing quite a few boars Turgor explained that he was simply experiencing bad RNG and it was in fact, a random drop, also, Turgor added that there was more to obtaining Thunderfury than just looting it; the boars only dropped an orange fragment.

The second step, Turgor explained, was to bring the fragment to Thrall, but the fragment could be absolutely anywhere. Confused by all of this, the warlock confessed that he had never heard of this, but was not surprised of that, as we are in fact, amazingly geared WoW players, so we must know everything. Turgor consoled the warlock stating that it is hard to learn everything about WoW, because it is so vast a game.

After this we watched him kill a few more boars, then Turgor started to feel bad and said that one of us should explain to him the truth about Thunderfury. Reizoko immediately ran away from the scene because he is a pussy, I followed because it is entertaining to watch him fly away on his nitro-boots, now Turgor, feeling left out, decided to follow as well, leaving the poor warlock to slaughter boars for hours in search of the legendary shard to turn into Thrall.

World of Logs Posted - 1/12/10

http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/qkttqm5n51wjnd0l/

No Marrowgar log. I forgot to turn the combat log on. Went for Full House. Thought we had it, but apparently an adherent died during the boss phase. Got Flu Shot Shortage. Went for Dances With Oozes. Gave up to move on. Pulled Putricide. Didn't like the quality of our raid toward the end of the night. We'll try again tomorrow.

49 Attempt Champions

The 49 attempt curse dates all the way back to release of Anub'arak and opening of ToC hard modes. This was back when Sleep was in what I consider it's second 'phase' as a guild (or what the forums trolls call "When Sleep was only 3 guilds instead of 10"). We were running one 'stacked' ten man a week. I don't remember when how long it took us to get Tribute to Insanity in ten man, but we finished at 49 attempts for at least a month. We finally got Insanity in ten man after the In and Out players faction transfered and artificially boosted our WoW Progress 10 man ranking with their server first 50 attempt ten man. The In and Out group kept the majority of their ten man going and eventually my ten man was able to break the curse and finally get it.

Now here we are again, able to easily kill Anub'arak on 25 man heroic and we're unable to get Insanity, failing at 49 attempts, yet again. So, time to appease everyone's curiosity. This is where and how we failed at Tribute to Insanity 4 consecutive weeks (sorry Jechtt).

Week after Mad Skill: I think this was the week Patch 3.3 was released. We made it to Anub'arak with 50 attempts. Somewhere in the middle of the Anub'arak fight Jechtt, one of our holy priests, tells us that his Penetrating Cold mod wasn't working. Please don't quote me on this, though, as I'm not a healer and I have no idea what they use on this fight... all I know is a mod of his wasn't working. He did fine for a bit, but eventually his target died, which I believe was another healer. Chain reaction leads to a wipe. We kill Anub'arak flawlessly our next attempt.

The next week a few things went wrong. We made it to Anub'arak again with 50 attempts. Early on in the fight I d/c'd. I think I d/c'd in the beginning of phase 2, so nothing was really screwed up if I could make it back online before the next phase 1. However, we didn't make it there. Jechtt was chased twice consecutively by Anub'arak. He was unprepared for the second chase, ran the wrong way, and with forbearance already on him, he died to that. We kill him flawlessly next attempt.

We didn't do ToC heroic the following week because of the holidays. January 3rd, the day before that text message was sent, we tried going back to ToC just to get it out of the way, even though we had a few raiders not getting back until the 5th. Our raid consisted of friend ranks and four tanks (three prot warriors with no other specs). We wipe to faction champions. We kill it the next attempt. I sit for BC on twins, he sits so we can somewhat round out our group for Anub'arak. We end up killing Anub'arak with a mediocre raid, although sloppily, in one attempt. Some luck, huh?

And now onto Sunday, January 10th. Last raid week we lost 5 raiders, and Watzmental is taking a break until February. Down 6 raiders, we were surprised to even have a raid Sunday. We bring in some new apps, primarily casters. We end up having one of our best nights in ToC ever, beating some of our kill times by an entire minute. We get to Anub'arak, knowing we have a few people who haven't done the fight before, but decide to go for insanity. But guess what. Ameranth, our add tank, d/c's. Apparently avoidance is client side because you can't block, dodge, or parry when you go offline. He immediately died to adds as soon as the "Ameranth has gone offline" message popped up. The adds killed two people. We were wiped entirely, though, as the fight progressed into phase 2 and Gobie was chased by Anub'arak and then inexplicably Anub'arak changed targets and immediately insta-gibbed someone. I guess we're just bad because even the game doesn't want us getting this achievement. We killed Anub'arak in 47 attempts that night. One more wipe to Penetrating Cold failure and then Necromonius having some issues clicking off DI and insta-removing an attempt. On a side note, 4 people got their Trial of the Grand Crusader achievements!

And that's the story of the 49 Attempt Champions. Maybe better luck next week? I doubt it.

THE FAMOUS STORY BEHIND THE WATZ'S

It started a while ago, back in the early days of our youth. Our eyes met and instantly we knew we were meant for each other. A few bromance sessions in Arathi Highlands and we knew what we were feeling was totally real.

It's simple really. We're madly in love, and as soon as Watzmental makes it out to Vermont, we're finally making it legal.

I KISSED A GIRL AND I LIKED IT

Ghostcrawler's Really Smart

In light of the fact that prot warriors have held some minor presence in arenas, blizz. decided to nerf them. The specifics of the nerf are unknown outside of changes being made to our warbringer talent. In actuality though, I don't even think Ghostcrawler has any idea what they're doing either.

"Will it nerf them for PvE? Yes"

Then just two paragraphs down in the same post...

"Will it nerf them for PvE? Probably not"

Poor Ghostcrawler can be so clueless sometimes; let's not forget this gem:

"To be generous, the warrior has 50K and the druid has 55K? How many times is that 5K going to make a difference when the boss hits for 40K? I know more Stam is always better, even in relatively trivial amounts. But until the magnitude is so large that the druid can survive one more hit than the warrior, it isn’t likely to crop up often."

Sleep's Blog!

The point of this blog is to be more of an up to date source of information about the guild, from the guild... something that will be updated more than news on a website. I will be giving posting access to anyone in the guild that asks for it and is a raider. We will be posting on whatever from the state of the guild, to why this server sucks, to members' rants and stories. I will also post in this blog whenever a new World of Logs entry is added. Enjoy!
